Truly Bumptious is a limited company owned by Victoria and Jake Ward who live in Cottenham, Cambridge, with their three children. They started the company in November 2007 after the birth of their second child. Victoria had struggled to find maternity clothes locally and knew that there were plenty of pregnant women around Cambridge with the same problem. She had also met lots of people who didn't know what to do with their maternity clothes when they had finished with them and the idea for the business began to take shape.
Victoria and Jake set up Cambridge Bumps, a maternity and nursing clothes agency which sold clothes on commission. It was planned as a home-based business but quickly outgrew the house and moved into a small unit on a Cottenham business park. In January 2009, two months before the birth of their third child, Victoria and Jake changed the business name to Truly Bumptious and moved into a shop unit in Histon. There was so much space that they decided to start stocking other products that they felt passionate about including slings and real nappies.
In October 2010, the shop closed and the business changed to focus on online sling sales.
Victoria also runs Bumps to Babies, a company delivering antenatal, postnatal and baby yoga classes and childbirth preparation workshops and classes. She qualified as a Clauwi Babywearing Instructor in March 2010.
